The park is located on the shore of the Walter F. George reservoir (Lake Eufaula). The reservoir is formed on the Chattahoochee river which is the boundary between Alabama, Georgia, and Florida where it enters lake Seminole along with the Flint river to become the head-waters of the Apalachicola river that flows into the Apalachicola Bay / Gulf of Mexico.
